Shopify App Detector
shopify://apps/:
each match names an app.
What the result shows
- The apps, with evidence
- The apps the homepage source names, marked "Found today". For stores we track, also the apps our crawls found on the cart and product pages, each with its date.
- The theme
- The theme's name, the Theme Store theme it was built on, its version, and whether it was installed from the Theme Store.
- The store profile
- For the 2,380,366 live stores we track: country, catalog size, technologies, dates and more, with contact details masked.

How to check which apps a Shopify store uses, by hand
Shopify writes the apps of a store into its page source in two places: app block comments and app code paths on its CDN. Both name the app's handle. This takes about two minutes per store.
-
Open the store
Open the homepage, then a product page. Review, upsell and subscription apps often load only on product and cart pages.
-
View the page source
Right-click and choose View Page Source, or press Ctrl+U (Cmd+Option+U on a Mac).
-
Search for shopify://apps/
Press Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on a Mac) and search for shopify://apps/. Shopify marks every app block with a comment that starts with <!-- BEGIN app block: shopify://apps/ and then the app's handle, for example klaviyo-email-marketing-sms.
-
Search for cdn.shopify.com/extensions/
App embeds load their code from Shopify's app CDN. In a path like cdn.shopify.com/extensions/<id>/pushowl-331/, the folder after the ID is the app's handle and the number is its version.
-
Look up each handle
Most handles open the app's listing at apps.shopify.com/<handle>. Some apps write a different handle in their code: Klaviyo writes klaviyo-email-marketing-sms, and its listing is apps.shopify.com/klaviyo-email-marketing.
-
Check the Network tab for older apps
Apps installed before app embeds existed load scripts from their own domains. Open DevTools, go to Network, reload, filter by JS and read the third-party domains. Klaviyo, for example, loads static.klaviyo.com/onsite/js/klaviyo.js.
What an app detector cannot see
- Apps that work only in the Shopify admin, such as inventory, accounting or shipping label apps.
- Checkout extensions and post-purchase pages, which a visitor reaches only by placing an order.
- Email, SMS and ads tools that put no code on the storefront.
- The full list of installed apps. Shopify does not publish it, so no outside tool has it.
We list an app only when the page source names it. A detector that matches loose words in the HTML (like "bundle" or "upsell") reports apps a store never installed.
Most detected Shopify apps
As of October 2, 2026, we found app code on Shopify's app CDN on 497,448 of the 2,380,366 live stores we track, for 1,799 different apps. Apps that load from their own domains, like Klaviyo, count low in this table.

Everything you need to know
How the app detector works, and what it cannot see.
How do I check which apps a Shopify store uses?
Paste the store's URL into the app detector on this page. It reads the store's homepage live and lists the apps its source names. To check by hand, view the page source, search for shopify://apps/ and cdn.shopify.com/extensions/, and look up each handle on the Shopify App Store.
Is the Shopify app detector free?
Yes. You get 5 lookups a day without an account, and 50 a day with a free account. The result shows the store's apps and theme in clear. Contact details stay masked; the one-time CSV has them in clear for every store we track.
Can an app detector see every app a store has installed?
No. A detector sees only what the storefront loads. Apps that work only in the Shopify admin (inventory, accounting, shipping labels), checkout extensions and email-only tools leave no code on the storefront. Shopify does not publish a store's installed apps.
How fresh is the result?
Each lookup scans the store's homepage live, unless the store blocks us or live scans are paused for the day. For stores we already track, the result also shows the apps our crawls found on the homepage, cart and product pages, each with the date we last saw it.
Why does an app show as a handle instead of a name?
We name an app only when its handle matches a Shopify App Store listing. When it does not, we show the handle exactly as the page source writes it. We never guess the app.
Can I look up many stores at once?
Not with the free tool: it checks one store at a time. For apps across many stores, the one-time CSV has an apps column for every store we track.
Does it detect the theme too?
Yes. Every result shows the theme we found. When the homepage can be read live, it also shows the Theme Store theme it was built on and its version. The Shopify theme detector page explains how to read the theme by hand.
Need the apps of every store?
The one-time CSV lists the apps, theme and contacts of every Shopify store we track.
