How to find newly launched Shopify stores for cold outreach

To find newly launched Shopify stores for cold outreach, watch the public signals a store leaves in its first days: a new HTTPS certificate in certificate transparency logs, DNS that points to Shopify, a freshly registered domain, and a password page that opens. Check that each candidate is a live Shopify store before you write to it. A daily feed does the collecting for you.

Step by step

  1. 1.

    Watch certificate transparency logs

Every public HTTPS certificate is logged in public certificate transparency logs, and a store gets one when its domain is connected. Search crt.sh for a domain to see when its first certificate was issued. To discover new domains rather than check known ones, you need the live log stream, filtered down to domains that point to Shopify.

A wildcard search for every myshopify.com certificate is too large for the free crt.sh interface: it times out or gets rate limited. Query one domain at a time, or consume a live stream.

  2. 2.

Confirm the domain points to Shopify

Look up the domain's DNS. The www name is usually a CNAME to shops.myshopify.com and the bare domain points to an address starting with 23.227.38. Then open the page source and look for cdn.shopify.com.

  3. 3.

    Check the domain's registration date

A WHOIS or RDAP lookup shows when the domain was registered. A domain created this month on a Shopify store is a strong new-store signal. An old domain that just moved to Shopify is a migration, which is a different pitch.

  4. 4.

Search for stores that are about to open

Search Google for site:myshopify.com with your niche keyword and limit results to the past week. Stores still behind a password page may show "opening soon" text: note the domain and come back when the password is gone.

  5. 5.

Use a daily feed when you need volume

Running the steps above by hand works for a few stores a day. For more, use a feed that collects, checks and enriches new stores every day, then spend your time on the email instead of the hunt.

What a day of new stores looks like

StoreRadar detects new Shopify stores from certificate logs, checks that each one runs on Shopify, then crawls it. These are the stores it detected on the first days after a pipeline change shipped on September 30, 2026, measured on October 2, 2026. They are stores we detected, not Shopify launches.

How to write the first email

  • Wait for launch. Write when the password page is gone and products are live.
  • Name one thing you saw. A missing shipping policy, a slow product page, a theme that hides the cart. Generic praise reads as automation.
  • Offer one small next step. A two-line fix, a short video, a free audit. Not a call.
  • Make leaving easy. One line to opt out, and honor it the same day.

Limits of every method

  • Password pages hide the brand. A store behind a password often shows no products and no contact until launch.
  • Many new stores never launch. A certificate and a domain do not mean a business. Expect a share of your list to stay empty.
  • Storefront emails are shared inboxes. The address on a new store is usually a generic inbox, not the founder's.
  • Old domains look new. A store that moved from another platform gets a new certificate too. Check the domain's age.

FAQ

How many new Shopify stores launch each day?

Shopify does not publish a daily number. What we can tell you is what we detect: StoreRadar detected 315 new stores on September 30 and 541 on October 1, 2026. Detection depends on our own pipeline, so treat it as a floor, not a census.

Is it legal to cold email a new Shopify store?

It depends on where the store is. In the US, CAN-SPAM allows B2B cold email if you identify yourself, give a real postal address and honor opt-outs. In the EU and UK, you need a legitimate interest, a relevant offer and an easy opt-out. When in doubt, ask a lawyer, not a blog.

Why do so few new stores have an email?

Many new stores have not published a contact page yet, and some hide the address behind a form. Of the stores StoreRadar detected on October 1, 277 of 541 had a storefront email.

When should I write to a new store?

After it is live and has products, not while it is behind a password page. A store owner in launch week reads email, but only answers what is specific to their store.
