# An MCP server for Shopify store data: the Shopify store database MCP

 Search **2,978,560 live Shopify stores** by tech stack, app, country and catalog size from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor. Free to connect. It is not Shopify's own MCP: Shopify's servers read one store's catalog or your own store's admin data. This one finds and filters stores across the whole market.

[Connect your assistant](#connect)[Read /agents.md](/agents.md)

 Free to connect, no card. Endpoint: `https://www.storeradar.io/mcp`

Which one

## Which Shopify MCP server do you need?

It depends on the data you want. Shopify's own servers read a store's catalog, and Admin API servers read your own store. StoreRadar reads the market.

| Goal | Server | What it reads |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Build a shopping assistant for one store | [Shopify Storefront Catalog MCP](https://shopify.dev/docs/agents/catalog/storefront-catalog) | That store's public catalog, from an endpoint on the store's own domain. |
| Search products across Shopify merchants | [Shopify Global Catalog MCP](https://shopify.dev/docs/agents/catalog/global-catalog) | Products from many Shopify merchants, for shopping agents. |
| Manage your own store: orders, customers, inventory | An Admin API MCP server | Your store's private admin data. It needs your store's authorization. |
| Find and filter Shopify stores across the market (prospecting, market sizing) | [StoreRadar MCP](#connect) | A database of 2,978,560 live Shopify stores: tech stack, apps, country and catalog size. |

Why

## Why not just ask Claude or ChatGPT?

Because it has nothing to read. Ask any assistant which German stores run Klaviyo and it answers from training data, because no web page lists them.

No list of Shopify stores to read. It answers from memory.2,978,560 crawled stores to query.

No way to filter by theme, app or catalog size.Filter by tech stack, app, theme, country and catalog size.

No way to tell a live store from one that closed last year.Every row dated: first seen, and last confirmed live.

### What your assistant can ask it

`search_stores`Start here

“Find Shopify stores in Germany running Klaviyo with more than 200 products.”

961 stores. Each row carries the domain, contacts, theme, tech stack, catalog size and scores.

20/min, 1,000/day free, 5x on annual

`count_stores`

“How many Canadian Shopify stores have coffee in their name and run a blog?”

229

Exact, and no rows pulled.

30/min, 2,000/day free, 5x on annual

`describe_segment`

“What do Shopify stores in Germany run, and how big is that market?”

The segment size, the top industries, themes, apps and technologies with their share, email and phone coverage, catalog size and new stores per month. Estimated from a 2% sample; no store is named.

10/min, 500/day free, 5x on annual

`get_store`

“What do you know about shop.example.com?”

Its theme and version, installed apps, detected technologies, catalog and blog size, country, language, scores, and the dates it was first seen and last confirmed live.

30/min, 500/day free, 5x on annual

`list_filter_options`

“Which email marketing apps can you filter Shopify stores by?”

Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend, MailerLite, AfterShip, and more, as the exact strings the search accepts.

60/min, 3,000/day free, 5x on annual

`health`

“Run the StoreRadar health tool.”

ok, plus whether this account reads unmasked. Run it first, before you read an empty result as "no matches".

Connection check, not metered

Connect

## How do I connect StoreRadar to my AI assistant?

1. 1. Create a free StoreRadar account

2. 2. Add the StoreRadar MCP server to your client

3. 3. Check the connection

4. 4. Ask your first question

Start with step 1: [create your free account](/sign-in) in the same browser you will connect from. Signing in there first turns your client's consent screen into one click.

Endpoint (every client)

```
https://www.storeradar.io/mcp
```

### Claude.ai

Free plan included: it allows one custom connector. Also Pro, Max and Team.

1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
2. Choose Add custom connector.
3. Paste the endpoint as the server URL.
4. Confirm, then sign in to StoreRadar when the consent screen appears.

### ChatGPT

Paid plans only, in the web app, with Developer mode switched on.

1. Open Settings, then Apps and connectors, then Advanced.
2. Turn on Developer mode.
3. Back in Apps and connectors, choose Create, and paste the endpoint as the MCP server URL.
4. Sign in to StoreRadar when prompted.

**On free ChatGPT?** OpenAI does not offer custom connectors there yet. Two paths that work today: the [StoreRadar web app](/sign-in), free with the same anonymized results, or Claude.ai, which allows one custom connector on its free plan.

### Claude Code

One command. Take your token from [your API tokens page](/api_tokens) and swap it in for YOUR\_TOKEN.

```
claude mcp add --transport http storeradar https://www.storeradar.io/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
```

### Cursor

Use the install link if Cursor is on this machine, or paste the configuration by hand.

[Add StoreRadar to Cursor](cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=storeradar&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5zdG9yZXJhZGFyLmlvL21jcCJ9)

Nothing happened? The link needs Cursor installed. Add this to your `mcp.json` instead:

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "storeradar": {
      "url": "https://www.storeradar.io/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

### Any other MCP client

The server speaks streamable HTTP and accepts either an OAuth token or a bearer token in the Authorization header. Point any compliant client at `https://www.storeradar.io/mcp`. If your client fetches instructions for itself, send it to [/agents.md](/agents.md), which is the same guide in plain text.

Browsing stores rather than asking about them? The [Chrome extension](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/storeradar-shopify-lead-f/coffdchjejeebfjkfjhdkkchbfckhong?utm_source=storeradar_io&utm_medium=referral) shows the same record for the store in your active tab, on the same free account.

## Connect for free. Unmask when it earns its keep.

Connecting costs nothing and returns anonymized results. One plan turns on real domains and contacts, in your assistant and everywhere else.

Unmask everything

StoreRadar Annual

[Get StoreRadar Annual](/new-shopify-stores/buy-annual)[Compare every plan](/pricing)

Free accounts keep all 6 tools, with domains and contacts anonymized. A masked response carries an upgrade link, so your assistant can tell you exactly which question needed the paid tier instead of failing silently.

FAQ

## Everything you need to know

The questions people ask before they paste that URL into their assistant.

### Is this Shopify's official MCP server?

No. StoreRadar is independent and not affiliated with Shopify. Shopify publishes its own MCP servers: Storefront Catalog MCP reads one store's public catalog, and Global Catalog MCP searches products across Shopify merchants. Community Admin API MCP servers read your own store's orders, customers and inventory, with your store's authorization. The StoreRadar MCP server does a different job: it searches a database of Shopify stores, so you can see which stores exist, what they run and where they are.

### How is this different from StoreInspect's MCP?

StoreInspect also sells Shopify store data and also ships an MCP server, from $49 a month with separate export quotas and reveal credits. The difference is shape, not category: StoreRadar is free to connect with anonymized results, and the paid tier is one annual price that also includes the full database as a file. Compare the whole field on our ecommerce store databases page, where every figure is dated and sourced.

### What do I get free, and what does paying add?

A free account gives you all 6 tools with results anonymized: domains and contacts masked, segments smaller than 25 stores returned as 'fewer than 25' with no rows, counts above 10,000 estimated from a sample, and no free text domain search or valid-email filter. Everything else is real. A one-time CSV pass adds the valid-email filter while it is live. StoreRadar Annual returns real domains, emails and phone numbers, drops the row floor, includes the valid-email filter, adds search traffic and review filters, and multiplies every rate limit by 5.

### Is my data safe, and what can these tools touch?

The tools are read only. They can search and read the public store database and nothing else: they cannot change your account, start a purchase, or reach any other part of StoreRadar. We record which account made a call so we can apply your rate limits, and we do not send your prompts anywhere. Revoke a connected assistant at any time from your API tokens page.

### Which clients does it work with?

Any MCP client that speaks streamable HTTP. Verified as of September 2026: Claude.ai, including one custom connector on the free plan; ChatGPT on paid plans with Developer mode enabled; Claude Code; and Cursor. Other clients need only the endpoint and either an OAuth sign in or a bearer token.
